San Marcos’ girls water polo team claimed two victories on Saturday at the Riverside Villa Park Tournament to earn a ninth-place finish.
The Royals beat Dana Hills 16-14 in their final game to finish 3-1 in the three-day tournament. In their first matchup of the day, the Royals advanced past Warren after the game was called in the third quarter with the Royals up 10-2.
Junior Megan Bergthold and freshman Paige Hauschild led the charge for the Royals. Hauschild tallied four goals in each game, adding seven total steals on defense. Bergthold totaled six goals in the two games. Brittany Prentice scored three times in the win over Dana Hills.
San Marcos is 6-1 overall and plays its next game on Thursday at Santa Barbara.
