GSoc: Morando’s hat trick powers Bishop past Laguna Blanca

Annelise Morando scored in the first minute, setting the tone for Bishop Diego in a 6-0 win over Laguna Blanca in a crosstown girls soccer match on Thursday.

Morando completed a hat trick, as the Cardinals posted their first win.

Jill Giannini made it 2-0 in the 27th minute before the Cardinals erupted for four goals in the second half.

“Laguna came out strong in the first half; it could have gone either way,” Bishop coach Tessa Binkley said. “Jessica Brosnan made some great saves in goal. In the second half, we started really connecting and finding the back of the net.”

Bishop erupted for three goals in a three-minute span.

Morando scored her second goal two minutes into the second half and Giannini followed with her second tally a minute later.

Brosnan switched to a field player and rewarded herself with a goal in the 44th minute.

Morando scored her third goal in the 47th minute.

Judy Angulo had three assists and Jill Morando assisted on two goals.
