BSoc: Chargers blank Cabrillo, get 3rd at Cats & Hounds

Dos Pueblos’ boys soccer team was stopped by Golden Valley in a penalty-kick shoot out on Saturday before coming back to defeat Cabrillo 2-0. The Chargers come home from the Cats & Hounds Tournament with a 3rd-place result while going 3-0-1 in games.

Manny Nwosu scored four goals in the tournament, including one in each game on Saturday. Tim Heiduk scored DP’s one other goal for the day.

Nwosu’s first gave Dos Pueblos a 1-0 lead over Golden Valley in the first half of their semifinal clash thanks to a nice set-up from sophomore Jessie Jimenez. The Chargers maintained the lead to the end, only to give up the equalizer a minute before regulation ended. The shoot out was tight but Golden Valley got past on the sixth turn.

Against Cabrillo, goalie Drew Richards recorded his second shutout of the tournament. The Chargers didn’t take the lead until the second half when Heiduk struck first, then Nwosu.

Dos Pueblos plays again on Monday against Pacifica.
