Max Vasquez scored 20 points and Ryan Baird recorded a double-double, but it wasn’t enough as Cate fell to Faith Baptist, 72-64, in a non-league boys basketball game Wednesday night.
Cate was down by two late in the fourth quarter but turnovers and fouls enabled Faith Baptist to pull away.
Vasquez had five rebounds, two assists and three steals to go with his points. Baird scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Rams fell to 1-4, but coach Bryan Rodriguez said the team has shown significant improvement in specific areas.
“The team will work hard to pull things together after the break when we begin league play,” he said.
