Owls storm back from 22 down, win CIF opener, 47-22

Laguna Blanca roared back from a 22-0 deficit and defeated visiting Pacific Lutheran of Gardena, 47-22, on Saturday in a CIF Division 1 8-man football playoff game.

Quentin Tedesco score four touchdowns and intercepted three passes to lead the comeback. He scored the go-ahead touchdown on a pass from quarterback Stephen McCaffery in the final three minutes of the first half

The Owls got a huge goal-line stand in the third quarter to keep the lead.

“The players are believing in themselves,” Laguna coach Shane Lopes said. “The Pacific Lutheran guys were whooping it up and our guys responded.”

McCaffery threw three touchdown passes and had an interception on defense.

The win earns Laguna Blanca a trip to Cambria for a second-round game with second-seeded Coast Union. The Owls won at Coast Union earlier in the season.
