GTen: Carpinteria seeded No.1 for Division 5 playoffs

Defending champion Carpinteria received the No. 1 seed for the CIF-SS Division 5 girls tennis playoffs, and the three local Channel League schools got home matches in Division 1, as the CIF released the playoff pairings on Monday.

Carpinteria (18-2) begins its road to a CIF repeat on Wednesday at home against the winner of a Tuesday wild-card match between Sierra Vista and Nogales. The Warriors are coming off their third straight Frontier League championship and are led by junior Kelsie Bryant.

Channel League-champion Santa Barbara (12-3) is home against Edison (7-9), the Sunset League?s No. 3 team, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. League runner-up Dos Pueblos (11-3) will be home against Calabasas (12-6), the No. 2 team from the Marmonte League.

San Marcos (4-8) plays a wild-card round match at home on Tuesday against Newbury Park, the Marmonte League?s No. 4 team. The winner draws third-seeded Campbell Hall on Wednesday.

In Division 4, Condor League runner-up Cate on Wednesday will play host to the winner of the wild-card match between Lompoc and Orcutt Academy.

Bishop Diego (6-5) made the Division 5 wild-card round and will travel to Covina on Tuesday.
