Top-seeded Agoura popped San Marcos with five goals in the third quarter of Saturday’s CIF-ss Division 2 quarterfinal, landing the finishing blow in a 13-5 victory.
The defending champion Chargers led 5-2 at halftime but put the game out of reach by outscoring the Royals 5-0 in the third period.
“Despite a really well played first half we came up short today,” reported Royals head coach Jeff Ashton. “A couple of critical mistakes on our part and Agoura’s relentless counter attack put the game out of reach in the third quarter.”
Kameron Bebb and Shane Hauschild led San Marcos in goals with two each while Spencer Kemp also scored. Jack Palmer stopped 10 shots in the cage.
Agoura advances in search of its fourth-straight CIF championship and second straight in Division 2.
