Cate scored early and never looked back in beating Carpinteria, 12-6, in a Tri-Valley League boys water polo match on Friday at Carpinteria.
Sophomore Alex Brown and team captain Zack Allen each scored four goals for the Rams, who built a 6-2 lead in the first half.
The Rams also got a solid game from goalie Sam Furmanski. He continually denied Carpinteria and finished the match with 10 saves.
“It was truly a great team effort, and one that gave the boys a glimpse of their potential when they truly play team water polo,” said Cate coach Nathan Alldredge.
Thomas Fly scored three goals for Carpinteria.
“We lost to the better team today,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “We came out a little flat and were outplayed in all facets of the game. Our goalie put in a tremendous effort in our losing battle.”
Zeke Hart made nine saves for Carpinteria (7-15, 2-7 TVL). Cate is 4-8, 2-7.
