Laguna Blanca tuned up for its volleyball showdown with Cate by sweeping third-ranked Pacifica Christian on Thursday night in a non-league match. The scores were 25-18, 25-19, 25-23.
The Owls got 11 kills from Hannah White and 10 kills from Phoebe Madsen in improving to 8-1 on the season. Madsen and Olivia Pickett paced the defensive effort with seven digs apiece.
Laguna Blanca is ranked No. 1 in CIF Division 4A and Cate is No. 2. Their Condor League match is Saturday at Cate.
