GTen: Carpinteria improves to 13-1

Top-ranked Carpinteria mixed up its lineup and blanked Santa Paula 18-0 in a Frontier League girls tennis match on Tuesday.

“We had our usual strong performers with Kelsie Bryant and Kassandra Ni going 3-0 each, with neither girl losing a game. Merissa Souza played No. 3 singles today and was just awesome,” Coach Charles Bryant said. “Normally a doubles player, she stepped into the singles role today and did not skip a beat winning all three of her sets. I was very proud of her and how she played.”

Bryant added: “We are playing well but hopefully we will really start to gel and play our best tennis in the next three to four weeks.”

Carpinteria is now 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the Frontier League.
