GLF: Team balance keys victory for Dos Pueblos

Dos Pueblos clinched the Channel League girls golf team title with a 226-253 win over San Marcos at Santa Barbara Golf Club on Thursday.

Megan Caird earned medalist honors with a 43, leading a balanced Dos Pueblos scoresheet. Leah Dunn was next with a 44, Miraya Ramirez and Mika Henrickson each shot 46 and Jamie Sharpe fired a 47.

The win puts DP at 7-0 in league and 12-0 overall. San Marcos is 4-2, 10-2

“While we did not put in our best scores, it was once again a good team performance that allowed us to pull out a victory,” DP coach Dan Choi said. “All the girls have really bought into the whole team concept. They have all been working really hard to make themselves better golfers and better teammates.”

Alex Reinert shot 47 to lead San Marcos.

“Dos Pueblos is a very strong and deep team,” ?San Marcos coach Sarah Ashton said. “Each of their players performed well today and, unfortunately, we just did not have our best game today.? Of course to lose a match is disappointing, but we had some bright points to focus on.? Sophomore Alex Reinert had two birdies today and led our team in scoring with a 47. ”
