GLF: Caird’s 36 leads DP to its lowest score

Megan Caird shot a 36 and Dos Pueblos scored under 200 for the first time this season, beating Righetti, 197-280, in a non-league girls golf match at Glen Annie Golf Club on Tuesday.

Caird sank a 38-foot putt on hole eight to save par.

“Megan puts so much time and effort into her golf game that we all tend to expect her to post post low scores,” DP coach Dan Choi said. “That can be a lot of pressure for a sophomore, but she really takes on the challenge and more times then not she comes out on top. Today was a great example of that, as she only had three bogeys and two birdies to score a 36.”

Mika Henrickson (38) and Miraya Ramirez (39) shot under 40 and Leah Dunn and Hanna Nolan fired 42s for the 13-0 Chargers, who handed Righetti (11-1) its first loss.

“All the girls have been grouping together well in the low 40s but we wanted to shift all the scores down with a few in the 30s,” said Choi. “The girls did just that today with three girls in the 30s and two in the 40s. It was kind of funny as some of the girls that shot in the low 40s felt bad that they were not in the 30s, but the reality is that their scores of 42 would have been the medalist in a lot of our matches.”
