Carpinteria dropped a 15-11 decision to Villanova in a Frontier League boys water polo match on Friday.
The Warriors were down by one goal going into the final period, but Villanova capitalized a few turnovers to pull away.
Thomas Fly had four goals and Noah Reed added three to lead Carpinteria (5-11, 0-3).
“I was proud of our effort today and without the few mistakes in the fourth, the game could have gone either way,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “Although a loss is never great, I was really happy with our energy and our character to keep fighting to the end of the game.”
