Shane Hauschild scored three goals in the fourth period to force overtime, but San Marcos fell short in the end, falling to visiting Ventura 12-10 in a Channel League boys water polo match on Thursday.
Kameron Bebb added three goals for the Royals, who fall to 1-2 in league and 12-5 overall. Goalie Jack Palmer had 12 saves.
The Royals fell behind 6-4 at halftime and trailed 9-6 before Hauschild rallied them.
