SBCC scored three times in a 26-minute stretch of the second half on Friday afternoon and went on to beat Taft 3-1 in its women’s soccer home opener.
The Vaqueros (3-2) are 19-4-4 in the last four years at La Playa Stadium.
Brandie Harris had two goals and an assist, boosting her state-leading total to eight goals in five games. She scored in the 49th and 57th minutes on identical give-and-go passes with Jackie Holmer.
“They were both nice 1-2 plays,” said Harris, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High. “John (Sisterson, the coach) says for every 10 shots, we should get at least one goal.”
The Vaqueros outshot the Cougars 27-12, including 13-6 in shots on goal.
