San Marcos girls take division title in Fresno

San Marcos won two matches on Saturday and captured the Division 5 title at the California High School Tennis Classic in Fresno.

“The girls overcame 102-degree heat and tough competition for their first title in years,” said coach Fred Hartzman.

The Royals defeated Taft 5-1 and Fresno-Edison 4-2 to finish the tournament with 5-1 record.

Renee Handley won both of her singles matches and six doubles teams didn’t lose a match.
