Monke, Robbins lead Cate runners to victory

Cate’s Charlotte Monke and Andrew Robbins took first-place honors at a four-team cross country race on the Carpinteria Bluffs on Wednesday.

Carpinteria, Bishop Diego and Santa Clara were the other competing teams.

Monke won the girls 3-mile race in 21:02.6. Rainbow Wang, Jasmine Paz, Lacy Douglas, Luisa Ilvento, Emily Duong, and Caroline Montgomery took fourth through ninth places ensuring a Rams’ win over Carpinteria 23-44.

Robbins ran 17:54.4, an improvement of more than 30 seconds over last year’s race. Andrew Sinclair took third place, followed by Ralph McAvoy (4th), Edward Zhu (6th), and Rei Imada (11th) to round out the scoring for the Rams, who edged Carpinteria 25-31.
