GTen: DP’s balance is difference vs. Carpinteria

Carpinteria’s Kelsie Bryant swept her three singles sets, but Dos Pueblos won the remaining six and pulled out an 11-7 non-league girls tennis win on Tuesday.

“It was very close all the way until the last three matches and we were only able to pull out one of those three,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. “But it was great for
our girls as DP is also a very balanced team with three very strong singles players and solid doubles teams.”

Bryant dropped only one game on the day.

“She played smart throughout her three sets against a tough DP singles lineup,” coach Bryant said.

It was the season-opener for Carpinteria.

Chloe Shott and Katie Yang won two sets apiece while KC Egger and Megan Eckert both picked up a singles set for the Chargers (3-0).

DP’s  doubles team of Serina and Siena Applebaum won both of their matches, with the last one being won in a 7-3 tiebreaker. Helena Lee won two matches with partners Amber Sharpe and Saylor Yoos. Heather Cano and Lea Tran-Le contributed a set to help in the win.
