San Marcos battled through windy conditions and beat Oxnard 240-246 in a non-league girls golf match at the River Ridge Victoria Lakes Course.
Melissa Jewkes shot a 42 to lead the undefeated Royals (4-0). Alex Pitchford followed with a 46 and Kelsey Gellert fired a 49. Oxnard’s Kristin Diep was the medalist with 42.
“The windy conditions on the course today were a little challenging but the girls adapted well,” San Marcos coach Sarah Ashton said. “Melissa Jewkes has consistently been our low scorer and I am pleased with Kelsey Gellert’s contributions and steady improvement this season. Freshman Alex Pitchford had a strong showing today with a solid score of 46. I continue to be impressed by our team’s commitment and focus.”
