GLF: DP’s balance is difference in win over Dons

Dos Pueblos shot its lowest round of the season to beat rival Santa Barbara in a Channel League girls golf opener on Tuesday at Glen Annie Golf Course.
The Chargers, with all five players shooting in the 40s, fired a 204. That overcame the stellar rounds of Santa Barbara’s Isabella Doub and Elennora DiCarlo. Doub was the medalist with a 37 and DiCarlo shot a 38.
“We knew that Isabella would be hard to beat and we weren’t sure about Eleonora but knew that she had the potential to get a good score along with Claudia (Fanaro),” said DP coach Dan Choi. “Knowing that, we understood that it was going to take a team effort to take down the Dons and that is exactly what we were able to do.”
Megan Caird and Leah Dunn each shot 40 to lead Dos Pueblos.
“At this time of year, to have all our scores fall in-between 40-42 showed a lot of team depth,” Choi said. “I know that some of our girls were disappointed in themselves, feeling like they could have and should have posted a lower number, but in actuality they did exactly what we asked them to do.”
Dos Pueblos is now 6-0 on the season and Santa Barbara is 3-1.
