Zack Clayton scored seven goals and Thomas Fly and Chris Fedderson each tallied four, powering the Carpinteria boys water polo team to a 19-5 romp over visiting Channel Islands on Wednesday.
Carpinteria roared out to a 5-0 lead in the first period and expanded it to 11-1 by halftime.
“We had a quick start with some great defense — one of those rare days where everything was working,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “For our young team (3 freshmen starters), it was a good confidence booster after a rough start to our season.”
Carpinteria improves to 4-7.
