Mater Dei and Harvard Westlake remained on a collision course after the first day of the Santa Barbara Invitational boys water polo tournament.
Mater Dei, the defending 3-time CIF-SS Division 1 champion and the top-ranked team, blew out St. Francis 19-3 and Laguna Beach 16-6. No. 2 -ranked Harvard Westlake beat Santa Barbara 19-5 and pounded Newport Harbor 20-11.
Harvard Westlake will face defending Division 2 champion Agoura in one semifinal. Mater Dei plays San Diego power Cathedral Catholic in the other semifinal. Agoura defeated Miramonte 8-7 and Los Osos 8-6. Cathedral Catholic beat Acalanes and Murietta Valley.
Santa Barbara got three goals and four ejections from Tyler Heffernan and Foster Campbell had a goal and a steal against Harvard Westlake. The Dons played Sacred Heart Prep in the second game and lost 12-3. Sawyer Rhodes had two goals and four steals and Donte Owens had a pair of steals.
