Dos Pueblos took San Diego Section top-ranked Cathedral Catholic to overtime before falling 12-10 in its water polo season opener on Saturday in San Diego.
In the second game of a doubleheader, the Chargers fell to The Bishops School of La Jolla, 13-10.
Junior Blake Parrish scored four goals and sophomore Jake Griffin tossed in three against Cathedral Catholic. Goalie Emil Huebner played a strong game, making nine saves.
Against The Bishops, Parrish tallied five goals and Quinn Peacock and Scott Mahan added two apiece.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for DP. On Thursday, it hosts Mater Dei, the No. 1-ranked team in the country.
“It’s good for the kids, playing against the big boys,” said DP coach Chris Parrish. “Hopefully, we gain a little confidence.”
