The reserves stepped up for the Dos Pueblos water polo team Saturday at the South Coast Tournament.
Wtih five starters lost to ejections, the Chargers played five reserves and a back-up goalie and beat Huntington Beach, 11-10, to finish ninth in the tournament. Earlier, they beat third-ranked Foothill, 8-5.
“It’s nice to take down the third-ranked team in our division,” said DP coach Chris Parrish, whose team is ranked fifth in CIF Division 2.
Blake Parrish and Jake Griffin each had two goals to lead the Chargers against Foothill. Goalie Emil Huebner made 13 saves.
In the Huntington Beach game, Quinn Peacock and Parrish each scored three goals and Graham Young and Jake Griffin tallied two apiece. Huebner made 10 saves.
Dos Pueblos went 4-1 in the tournament and improved its record to 6-6. The Chargers play host to Santa Barbara on Tuesday.
