Westmont graduate Niko Brooks will play basketball professionally in Canada

Niko Brooks has been selected as the twelfth overall pick in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC). Brooks, who graduated from Westmont in May, played for the Warriors from 2010-13. Brooks was selected by the Brampton A’s of Ontario. Brampton is a suburb of Toronto.

In 2013, the senior guard averaged 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Brooks was present for the NBLC draft which took place in nearby Markham, Ontario.

The Brampton A’s are a 2013 expansion team for the NBLC. The league formed in 2011. The A’s are scheduled to play home games at the Powerade Center under head coach and general manager Dave Magley.

Brampton opens training camp on October 1 and begins regular season play on November 1 against the Moncton (New Brunswick) Miracles.
