Seven stadium records were set at Friday’s All-Comers Meet hosted at Carpinteria High School.
New records were set in the 40-meter sprint, the one-mile distance, the 400 hurdles, the shotput and discus. Both the men’s and women’s marks in the 40-meter run and shotput were extended.
Ary’l Burgoyne, 15, won the women’s 40-meter in 5.75 seconds while Nicholas Smith, 19, recorded a time of 4.84.
Stamatia Scarvelis and Nicholas Scarvelis dominated the shot put. Nicholas set a new record with a throw of 59 feet, 10.5 inches(16 lb.). Stamatia’s record-setting throw, with a 4k shot, was 49’10.5″.
Corey Hammond’s time of 55.69 in the 400 hurdles is another stadium record, as is Sahm Bazargan’s time of 4:22.50 in the mile.
The next All-Comers Meet, open to all ages and abilities, is scheduled for Friday, August 9th.
