Santa Barbara’s Fiesta Sports Calendar

It’s Fiesta Week in Santa Barbara, and there are several sporting events happening in town in conjunction with our town’s celebration of its Old Spanish Days.

Fiesta begins on Wednesday, July 31st and runs through Sunday, August 4.

WEEKEND SPORTS CALENDAR


WEDNESDAY

Nite Moves, at Leadbetter Beach Park:?In its 25th anniversary year, Nite Moves brings together the local running and swimming community on a weekly basis during the summer months. ?A friendly 5k run and 1k ocean swim are organized for all ages and ability levels. Races start at approximately 6:20 p.m.

THURSDAY

PBR Rodeo, at Earl Warren Showgrounds: The Professional Bull Riders Tour makes a stop in Santa Barbara to kick off four days of Stock Horse and Rodeo competitions in Santa Barbara.

Reef & Run, at East Beach: Swimming enthusiasts flock to East Beach on Thursdays during the summer for ocean swimming races. Distances include 500 meters, 1k and 1 mile. Be there by 6:15 to get registered.

FRIDAY

Old Spanish Days Rodeo, at Earl Warren Showgrounds: While the Professional Bull Riders competed on Thursday night, the PRCA Rodeo invites spectators to watch on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon. A Fiesta tradition since 1924.

SATURDAY

Santa Barbara Golf Classic, at Santa Barbara Golf Club (Muni): This two-day, 36-hole golf tournament features two partners competing together using a best-ball format. Steve Lass and John Pate have won the tournament a record 12 times together.

SUNDAY

USPA Piaget Silver Cup, at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club: Part of the High Goal Season, the Piaget Silver Cup is the oldest polo trophy in the United States. Matches will be held at 1 and 3 p.m. on the field in front of the grandstands. Gates open at noon. Dress code is casual; however, many people enjoy dressing up.
