Red-hot O’Hearn, Foresters win sixth straight

The Santa Barbara Foresters won their sixth straight game in Wednesday’s 6-3 decision over the San Luis Obispo Blues.

The Foresters have now won 10 of their past 11 games, winning their way into first place of the CCL North for the first time since early June. At 14-9, Santa Barbara shares the conference lead with the Conejo Oaks. The Blues and Santa Paula are a 1/2 game out at 14-10.

O’Hearn, the MVP of the Rawlings Cup Tournament over the weekend, continued his torrid hitting at the plate with a 2-for-4 day that included a home run and three RBI. In his past five games, O’Hearn has collected 10 hits in 18 at-bats with seven RBI and two home runs.

O’Hearn, who plays for Sam Houston State in Texas, has four home runs and 20 RBI on the season. The four home runs are tied with Louie Lechich for the team lead. Garrett Mattlage went 3-for-5 for Santa Barbara and scored three times.

Parker French earned the victory on the mound for his five innings of work. The starter struck out five batters in five innings, allowing one earned run in the second innings as the Blues took an early 1-0 lead.

Hunter Lemke recorded his fourth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.

Aaron Attaway and Cody Jones had two hits each for San Luis Obispo, collecting four of SLO’s five total hits.

The Foresters have 13 regular season games remaining on their schedule before the CCL playoffs and NBC World Series. Santa Barbara travels to Santa Paula on Thursday and then hosts the Halos in Goleta on Friday and Saturday.
