Griffin Steele and Blake Katsev combined on a one-hit shutout and the Goleta Valley South Juniors erupted for 12 runs in the fifth inning of a 16-0 win over Foothill on Saturday in the final pool-play game of the District 63 Little League All-Star Tournament.
After outscoring its oppnents 39-1 in pool play, Goleta Valley South moves into the double-elimination portion of the tournament against either Saticoy or Dos Pueblos.
Steele allowed the lone hit in four innings of work. Katsev worked a perfect fifth.
Offensively, Kyle Gonzalez and Thomas Hantgin each had two hits, Kyle Ownsby hit a two-run double, Katsev reached based four teams on a hit and three walks and Bryce Quezada had a double and three RBis.
