TEN: Dons dominate in SoCal Regional opener

Santa Barbara High’s boys tennis team blanked Palisades 7-0 in the opening round of the CIF Southern Regional Tournament on Tuesday.

The 16-team regional will be decided on Friday and Saturday at the Claremont Club.

The Dons received an invite after getting beat by University in the semifinals of the Southern Section’s Division-1 tournament. Palisades, Los Angeles City Section CIF champion, was the No. 6 seed while Santa Barbara is No. 11.

Santa Barbara advances to play San Marino in the quarterfinals.

The Dons dominated play against Palisades, sweeping seven matches without dropping a set. The format was different in that each of the seven points – four singles and three doubles – was decided in a best-of-three set match.
