“We weren’t doing so well in the beginning of the year and we kind of just built upon what we’ve been working on,” said Cardinals senior captain Madison Ballard-Rozok. “It kind of just hit us at the end that we’re just a good team and that we could do it.”

Ballard-Rozok was 3-for-3 at the plate and pitched five innings. The Cardinals were leading 10-0 when Ballard-Rozok gave way to Ashlynd Williams in the pitcher’s circle. Ali Everson at third base and Ava DeNunzio in right field backed up their pitchers with strong defensive plays.

“We came out like we wanted to win,” Ballard-Rozok said.

Williams added a pair of hits and Lindsay Bosio connected for a two-run double in the third inning.

Bishop Diego advances to face the division’s top-seed Pomona Catholic on Thursday.
