Owls, Dons, Royals seeded for CIF volleyball playoffs

Three local schools received top-four seedings for the CIF-SS boys volleyball playoffs.

Laguna Blanca received a No. 2 seeding in Division 5 while Santa Barbara High and San Marcos were seeded third and fourth in Division 2. All three teams will host first-round matches on Tuesday night. The pairings were released Saturday.

PLAYOFF PAIRINGS

Condor League champion Laguna Blanca (15-2) will host Holy Martyrs (8-5), an at-large team from the Liberty League. The Owls, riding a 14-match win streak, are seeded behind Saddleback Valley Christian.

Santa Barbara (17-9), the champion of the Channel League, faces San Luis Obispo, the Pac 7’s No. 3 team, at J.R. Richards Gym.

San Marcos (20-8) entertains Calvary Chapel (18-6) of the Orange Coast League at the Thunderhut.

Dos Pueblos (12-4), the Channel League’s No. 3 team, travels up the coast to play at Arroyo Grande (17-2), the Pac 7 champion.

Bishop Diego also received a playoff berth in Division 2. The Cardinals, the No. 3 team from the Tri-Valley League, play at Foothill (19-11), the Century League’s No. 2 entry.

Also in Division 2, Carpinteria (7-8) received an at-large berth and will play a wild-card match on Monday night at Godinez (12-10) of the Orange Coast League.

Esperanza and Laguna Beach the top two seeds in the division.

In Division 5, Cate (6-6, Condor No. 2) plays a first-round match on Tuesday at Camino Real League champion St. Bernard (12-1).

Second-round matches are slated Thursday, the quarterfinals are Saturday, May 11, the semifinals on Wednesday, May 15 and the championships on Saturday, May 18 at Santiago Canyon College.
