GLF: UCSB’s Scher finishes play at NCAA Regional

TEMPE, Ariz. – UC Santa Barbara junior Glen Scher carded a 3-over par 73 to finish at 12-over par 222 at the NCAA Tempe Regional played on the Karsten Golf Course on the Arizona State campus. Scher finished tied for 59th-place at the Regional, moving up four more spots from his second round finish.

Scher got off to a rocky start in Arizona, recording a 9-over par first round score on Thursday, but his last two rounds elevated him from 73rd-place to 59th-place to complete the tournament. He shot an even-par 70 on Friday, including a hole-in-one on the par three, 157 yard seventh-hole. It was the only hole-in-one at the Regional.

UCLA easily won the team title at the Tempe Regional. The Bruins finished 30-under par with a score of 810, 17 shots ahead of Georgia and Central Florida which both finishe 13-under. Texas A&M was 11-under and the host school, Arizona State, was 8-under.

Central Florida’s Greg Eason was the individual medalist recording a 12-under par 198, four shots ahead of his teammate, Ricardo Gouveia and UCLA’s Jonathan Garrick.
