BB: Gollin, Webb wear out Warriors

Carpinteria’s baseball team scored first in Tuesday’s CIF Division 6 second-round game at Webb, but not again as the Gauls came back to post a 5-2 victory.

Webb advances to Friday’s quarterfinals while the Warriors finish their season with a 13-11 record.

Carpinteria’s Anthony Rodriguez walked to lead off the game and later scored on an RBI single by Marcus Hutchinson. Both players recorded a steal while on the basepaths, with Hutchinson stealing home to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.

The Gauls came back with one run in the second inning, three more in the third, and one more in the fifth on a solo home run launched by Aaron Digiamarino.

Nick Gollin kept the Warriors in check, allowing just two hits and no earned runs in seven innings of work. Gollin struck out seven.

Webb is now 21-4 on the season.

“Webb is good. They pitched well, played good defense and applied pressure,” said Warriors head coach Pat Cooney. “We wish them good luck.”
