UCSB’s women’s water polo team fell 11-5 to UC Irvine on Saturday in a Big West Conference matchup, snapping a three-game winning streak.
Coming off an upset win against then-No. 6 San Diego State last Saturday, the Gauchos (18-11, 2-3) hoped to give the No. 6 Anteaters an equal challenge.
It was tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter but Irvine took control and built a 9-3 lead going into the final period.
No. 6 Irvine is 4-1 in conference play and 16-8 overall.
Bryn Hudson led UCSB in scoring with three goals while Ruth Milne totaled 12 saves to help the Gauchos defensively.
Irvine featured eight different goal scorers, led by Kelsey Klatt, Ambyr Stewart and Michaela Pierandozzi with two each.
UCSB plays at No. 9 Long Beach State on Sunday.
