TRK: Royals take out Buena

San Marcos swept Buena in Thursday’s Channel League track & field meet at Warkentin Stadium. The Royals won in all four competitions.

The varsity boys did well in the distance runs and won both relays. Tyson Miller won the 400 in 52.31 and was the opener for the winning 4×400 relay team that included Ian Hall, Elijah Johnson and Jesus Munoz.

Eric Salas, Alex Heuchert and Ryan Sorenson placed first in the 800, 1600 and 3200 for the Royals. The Royals swept the top three spots in the 800 and the shot put.

Buena’s Marcus Aguilar won the 100 and 200-meter sprints.

The girls won with a different formula, dominating the hurdles and the throws.

Aanavi Karandikar and Anastasia Kunz captured wins in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles, leading 1-2-3 sweeps for the Royals in both events.

Hannah Harrah’s win in the shot put and Sara Scott in the discus led the way in those events. The Royals also collected all the available points in the triple jump won by Courtney Clyde.

Jill Fisher brought the Royals a victory in the 100-meter sprint, a second in the 200, and another first in the 4×100 relay.

Buena’s Alisa Houston was a double-event winner in the 200 and 400-meters.
