Dos Pueblos gave Santa Barbara a run for its money at Montecito Country Club on Tuesday but the Dons prevailed at their home course 400-405.

Santa Barbara’s Ryan Stoll, Brandon Crane, and Dos Pueblos’ Michael Nam recorded matching 72s for the day’s lowest individual round.

Santa Barbara hasn’t lost a league match at Montecito Country Club in more than five years and Tuesday’s five-stroke difference was as close as they come.

“We haven’t lost here for a very long time,” said Dons senior Jonathan Collins. “It’s really important that we keep maintaining that. Every shot counts. We can’t give up, we have to keep grinding it through.”

Santa Barbara is seeking its seventh-straight league championship.

The result make the Dons 3-1 in the standings while DP falls to 2-2.

“We know that we cannot take anything for granted in our league and that we are going to get the best from teams when we play,” said Dons head coach James Bedard. “The teams in our league are all so competitive and talented and on any given day, if you relax, you can get bitten by a team. We are really fortunate to walk away with the victory today as DP played great.”

Dos Pueblos’ Alex Rickman closed out his round with a 20-foot birdie putt.

“That was tough too,” Rickman said. “It was sliding downhill… I’m really happy with that putt. I’m surprised it went in.”

Rickman finished with an 81. Grant Amerson turned in a 78 for the Chargers.

Both teams play league matches again on Thursday.
