GLF: Dons beat Royals with Morton’s 69

James Morton’s 3-under 69 paced Santa Barbara High’s boys golf team to a 367-395 win over San Marcos on Tuesday at Sandpiper Golf Course.

Morton caught fire on the back nine, dropping five straight birdies on holes 12 through 16.

Ryan Stoll was also under par as the Dons recorded a season-low as a team. All five scores were under 77.

Niels Anderson led San Marcos with a one-over 73.

“We are coming together as a team at the right time and had a few guys play really well today, which helps the team,” said Dons head coach James Bedard. “This is our best performance of the year and our best score as a team at this course ever. Hopefully, we can play well on Thursday and keep this momentum into the playoffs.”

Santa Barbara plays at Glen Annie on Thursday against Dos Pueblos.
