BB: Royals done in by walks in 5-2 loss to Buena

Buena scored five runs in the third inning and went on to beat San Marcos 5-2 in a Channel League baseball game on Saturday at Joe Mueller Field.

The Bulldogs capitalized on four walks in the inning. Brad Montgomery hit a two-run single and Ryan Coker executed a squeeze bunt that was misplayed, allowing two more runs to score. Chris Torres scored the fifth run in the inning when Coker got caught in a rundown.

San Marcos took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Sean McDuffy lined a single to center field to score Daniel Dzierski. The Royals loaded the bases with one out against Buena ace Charlie Brooks, but the runners were left stranded.

Buena replaced Brooks in the second inning with Addison Pelupessy and he shut down the Royals the rest of the game.

San Marcos (5-6) falls to 1-3 in Channel League while Buena (11-7) evens its league record to 2-2.
