Ten: Vaqueros’ doubles leads to win

SBCC won two of three doubles sets on Tuesday to defeat L.A. Pierce 6-3 in a WSC men’s tennis match at Woodland Hills.

Carlo Bierbaum, Marius Moelsgaard, Soufiane El Mhamdi and Daniel Barrington posted singles wins for the second-place Vaqueros (6-4, 4-2) on a warm spring day with temperatures in the 90s. SBCC played without its top player, Logan Liddell, who’s injured.

Lundberg/Moelsgaard won the No. 2 doubles 8-5 and Bierbaum/El Mhamdi prevailed at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.

“The courts were playing extremely fast, and with the heat, the ball was really lively today, making it tough to control,” said coach Lance Kronberg. “But we adjusted well and took control of the match.”

SBCC travels to Saddleback on Friday for a nonconference match.
