Four Dos Pueblos swimmers won two individual races and diver Lester Wright qualified for CIF as the Chargers defeated San Marcos 110-75 in Thursday’s Channel League meet.
Wright won the diving competition with a CIF Automatic score of 596.4.
Grant Schroeder, Walker Bell, Alex Valente and Blake Parrish all won two individual races and contributed in varying degrees to DP’s three relay wins.
Schroeder won the 200 and 50 free. Bell almost broke two minutes in the 200 IM with a winning time of 2:00.08. Bell also won the 500 free with a time of 4:49.72.
Valente and Parrish dominated the specialty sprints. Valente captured the 100 butterfly (51.98) and the 100 backstroke (54.40) while Parrish claimed the 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.
San Marcos’ Simone Andretto had a strong day for the Royals. Andretto finished second to Bell in the 200 IM and second to Valente in the 100 fly.
“Overall, I was very pleased with the way we swam today,” reported Royals head coach Jeff Ashton. “Many of our swimmers had personal best times and I think that we are showing significant improvement meet to meet. This season we have 6 9th graders swimming varsity, so I’m just looking for them to get better every week.”
