SBCC built 5-1 leads in two games on Friday at the Golden West Invitational softball tournament but couldn?t finish things off. Southwestern scored four in the sixth inning to edge the Vaqueros 6-5 and Pasadena used an eight-run sixth to post a 10-5 victory.

The Pasadena game was called after six innings due to a time limit.

Natalie Orosco hit her second homer of the year in the first game. Her three-run blast boosted the lead to 5-1 in the top of the fifth. Danielle DeCastro and Victoria Lucido each had two hits and Alice Cen stole four bases for the Vaqueros (2-9).

Santa Barbara took a 5-2 lead into the sixth inning vs. Pasadena but the Lancers scored eight times on four hits, two walks and several passed balls and wild pitches.

DeCastro went 2-3 in the second game and Orosco had a triple.

?I don?t know what happens to us late in the game when we?re leading,? said assistant coach Ashley Alderton. ?We have to learn how to finish.?

The Vaqueros play at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
