The Santa Barbara High School Boys F/S Volleyball team traveled to Newport Harbor on Saturday and came home tournament Champions! The boys played hard against 7 South Coast teams to win their pool advancing to the Finals. They eliminated Laguna Beach in the first round 25-15, took Mater Dei out 25-18 in the 2nd round, and finished the day defeating Corona Del Mar 25-18. This is the first time any high school team from Santa Barbara has won the Newport Harbor Tournament since 1989.
?ALL of our players are freshmen and for about half of them this was their first time competing in a volleyball tournament. For them to have achieved this much this quickly is amazing! This is only our second week of practice, and everyone has already greatly improved their skills and volleyball IQ. The future is looking very bright for these young athletes.?
