The San Marcos girls beach volleyball team went 2-0 at the first tournament at Playa del Rey. The players who competed were, from the left, Jenny Swanson, Alex Seyle, Katie Kim, Andie O’Donnell, Anika Wilson and Clare Holehouse.

San Marcos beat two teams in its debut in the Southern Pacific Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League for high school girls on Saturday.

The Royals defeated El Camino Real of the L.A. City Section and Notre Dame Sherman Oaks by 3-0 scores at the competition at Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey.

Anika Wilson-Clare Holehouse, Katie Kim-Andie O?Donnell and Alex Seyle-Jenny Swanson represented the Royals in the tournament.

San Marcos is ranked eighth in the IBVL Coaches? Poll. The top five teams are Valencia, Mira Costa, Huntington Beach, Redondo Union and Marymount. Long Beach Wilson, Westlake, Saddleback Valley Christian and Edison round out the top 10.

The league consists of 27 schools and 30 teams (three schools are fielding a Varsity and JV squad). Each school competes with three pairs of teams and competes against another school’s three pairs of teams in order of rank.

The league is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, Inc. and in cooperation with the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors.

San Marcos has a roster of nine players: Jenny Swanson, Kristen Berlo, Andie O’Donnell, Anastasia Kunz, Katie Kim, Alex Seyle, Clare Holehouse, Anika Wilson, Sarah Kang.
