Santa Barbara’s boys golf team overcame San Marcos on Tuesday at Montecito Country Club, recording a 400-417 decision in the Channel League opener for both teams.

Dons freshman Brandon Crane was able to produce the day’s low round, carding a four-over-par 75 to lead all scorers.

Another Santa Barbara High freshman, Fabio Rodriguez, recorded his season-low in the rivalry match. Rodriguez had three birdies on the front nine and made two putts of 25 feet or more.

Crane’s round was full of pars.

“He’s been really steady this whole year,” said Dons head coach James Bedard.

The Dons play another league match on Thursday, traveling south to face Ventura.
