CBB: Four-run inning not good for Vaqueros

Riverside took the lead with four runs in the third inning on Wednesday night and made it stand up for a 5-1 non-conference baseball win over SBCC in Riverside.

Zach Zehner staked the Vaqueros (12-12) to a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the first that scored Brett Sesma. Tony Simon doubled in the fourth to extend his hitting streak to 19 games.

The Tigers (17-9), ranked No. 6 in Southern Cal, answered with a run in the first and added four more in the third on a hit batter and three hits. Cody Stewart had a two-run double.

Blake Burrell went seven innings for Riverside, allowing just five hits with four strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 0.29.

Connor Detko (2-6) suffered the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked four.

The Vaqueros will play their third game in as many days on Thursday when they host Glendale at 2:30 p.m. SBCC upset second-ranked Glendale 6-0 on Tuesday.
