BVB: Chargers fall short in 5-setter against Westlake

Untimely mistakes cost Dos Pueblos in the fifth set against Westlake and the Chargers dropped the non-league boys volleyball match 25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 15-9 on Saturday night at Sovine Gym.

“We fell apart at the end,” said DP coach Chris Hughes. “Colby Magorian, their stud player and the best player in the Marmonte League, just took over. And, we made a couple of service errors at critical times that hurt us.”

Hughes said the match was good lesson for his squad.

“We got to make plays at critical times and we didn’t. This was a good learning lesson.”

Cameron Fry led the Chargers (1-2) with 15 kills. Matt Sessler added eight kills and Drew Kenyon seven, and middle Jordan Foster posted eight blocks.

“We competed well with very good Marmonte League teams (Newbury Park, Royal and Westlake). (Westlake) is a good team, and we’ll get better from this match.”
