The Southern Section’s girls water polo teams learned their playoff pictures on Sunday morning as postseason brackets were released.
The Channel League has three top-10 teams in Division 1, including the No. 1 team overall in Santa Barbara. The Division 1 teams play first-round games on Wednesday and quarterfinal matches on Saturday. A CIF champion will be decided the following week with semifinal matches on Wednesday and the championship on Saturday, February 23.
The Dons, winners of 17 straight matches, host a wild-card winner in Wednesday’s first round. Huntington Beach and Estancia will play on Tuesday for the chance to meet the top-ranked Dons.
San Marcos earned a first-round home match as well and hosts Edison on Wednesday.
Dos Pueblos, which tied with San Marcos for second place in the Channel League but lost a coinflip, must travel to Laguna Beach for its first-round match. The Breakers are the No. 6 team in the division and won the Orange Coast League.
Tri-Valley League champion Carpinteria, playing in Division 6, hosts the wild-card winner between La Salle and La Quinta on Thursday.
In Division 6, first-round matches are on Thursday followed by quarterfinal games on Saturday.
Cate School, which finished in third in the Tri-Valley League, plays in a wild-card game on Tuesday at Santa Monica.
