Dos Pueblos’ girls water polo team came up one goal short of advancing to the Division 1 CIF quarterfinals on Wednesday, falling to Laguna Beach 9-8.
The Chargers had a chance to force overtime on their final possession but head coach Chris Parrish said they couldn’t get off a great shot.
Jordan Williams led the Chargers with three goals in the game while Ari St. Oegger added two more. Jamie Neushul, Shannon Cleary and Cara Horwald also scored.
Britten Vilander recorded five saves for DP.
The Breakers led 3-1 after the first quarter and 5-3 at halftime. But Dos Pueblos was able to draw even at 7-7 going into the final period.
Dos Pueblos was the No. 7 seed and Laguna Beach is No. 6.
