Cate’s girls water polo season came to a close on Tuesday as the Rams fell to Santa Monica 16-2 in a Division 6 wild-card game.
The Vikings led 3-0 after the first quarter and never looked back. The Ocean League team will travel to Desert League champion Palm Desert for Thursday’s first round.
Juniors Caroline Montgomery and Sophie Maes scored Cate’s goals.
“The season ends with a bright glow however, and a lot to look forward to next season. With seven of nine players returning on the squad, the core of the team will stay intact,” reported Rams head coach Nathan Alldredge.
Montgomery, Maes, Maddie Schrager and Sophia Soriano have all been given All-Tri-Valley League recognition for a season in which the Rams finished 8-6 overall.
